Amanda Renteria, the Democrat who was the first Latina chief of staff in U.S. Senate history, has lost the race to represent California's 21st Congressional District. Renteria, who worked for Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.), challenged freshman Rep. David Valadao. Valadao was one of a handful of House Republicans who backed a House comprehensive immigration bill last year.
