Algonquin’s Stoneybrook Park Gets Grant

Algonquin was recently awarded a $400,000 Open Space Land Acquisition and Development grant to improve Stoneybrook Park. Stoneybrook Park, which was last improved in 1997, will be redeveloped to add several amenities, including bocce ball courts, pickleball courts, a gaga ball pit, a pavilion, a walking trail and a 15-space parking lot. The existing playground and sand volleyball court also will be replaced and improved. Construction on the Stoneybrook Park, located at 1200 Huntington Drive North in Algonquin, is set to begin in late 2020 and will be completed in summer 2021. The Open Space Land Acquisition and Development program is administered by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. Preliminary total cost estimates for the Stoneybrook Park improvement project are $930,000.
