A small North Carolina town has launched the nation’s first-ever climate accountability lawsuit against an electric utility.
The litigation, filed by officials from Carrboro, North Carolina, on Wednesday morning, accuses Duke Energy of waging a “deception campaign” to obscure the climate dangers of fossil fuels.
A Denver City Council committee on Wednesday advanced a measure that would ban sales of most flavored tobacco and nicotine products in the city, despite strong objections from the industry and retailers that sell e-cigarettes and vapes.
The council’s Safety, Housing, Education & Homelessness Committee voted 6-1 to move the ban on for consideration at the full council.
