David Byrne left the Rhode Island School of Design in 1974 to pursue his musical interests. The following year he and two fellow students formed the punk/art-funk/new wave band Talking Heads. Sixteen years and eleven albums later, Byrne embarked on a solo career. Luaka Bop, a small record label he founded, showcases his solo works and those of artists from around the world.
