The 49ers will sign Kelly to a four-year, $24 million contract, ESPN reported, which is the richest head-coach deal in franchise history and makes him just one of seven NFL coaches to earn at least $6 million a season. In Philadelphia, his fast-paced attack ranked last in time of possession for three straight seasons and fatigue could help explain why the Eagles ranked 30th (2015), 28th (2014) and 29th (2013) in total defense during his tenure. In November, Kelly was asked if he’d retain Davis after a 45-17 home loss to Tampa Bay in which the Eagles allowed 283 rushing yards and five touchdown passes. Davis, who is from York’s hometown of Youngstown, Ohio, has spent seven seasons as an NFL defensive coordinator, including a stint with the 49ers from 2005 to 2006. [...] Browns offensive coordinator John DiFillippo, who was also born in Youngstown, could be a target to fill the same role with the 49ers. Inside linebackers coach Clancy Pendergast is USC’s defensive coordinator; tight ends coach Tony Sparano is the Vikings offensive line coach and offensive line coach Chris Foerster has the same position with the Dolphins. Secondary coach Tim Lewis interviewed for the same position with the Bengals on Friday, Fox Sports reported.
