A man escaped a house fire on the Southside early Wednesday morning, according to Times-Union news partner First Coast News. The fire broke out at a home in the 3500 block of Bowden Circle East. The homeowner escaped safely after smelling smoke, according to Jacksonville’s Fire and Rescue Department. Officials said it was a “very hot and big fire.” It took a crew of 40 firefighters put out the flames in about 30 minutes. read more
