A man and woman were arrested after police said they broke through a basement window late Wednesday night at St. Mary’s School, 1200 S. Washington St. At midnight, officers responded to the burglary alarm. Officers found a basement window was broken out and called for backup and K-9 units. Police found William Erwin Dewald, 28, and Amber Lee Dewald, 30, both of Amarillo, on the fourth floor of the school, authorities said. Before he was booked into jail, William Dewald was taken to a hospital for treatment after a K-9 bit him. read more
