Here 's a quick look at the 117 fire, which started on Tuesday near mile marker 117 on Interstate 25 in southern El Paso County. 40,892: Acres burned, according to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, as of Thursday morning. 60 percent: Containment on the fire. 300: Personnel working the fire. 2: Black Hawk helicopters from Fort Carson carried out an aggressive air attack Wednesday, dropping water to extinguish hot-spots and defend structures, while two Heavy Air Tankers laid down a protective line of fire retardant to stop the fires growth along the southern flank 2: Chinook helicopters, also from Fort Carson, have dropped water on the fire.
