I’m not sure there’s a word in the English language that accurately describes the sadness after a breakup. Grief, the feeling reserved most commonly for death, is part of it. So, too, is suffering. Agony, remorse, self-doubt. Breakups are traumatic. They are, of course, heart-breaking. They will make you reevaluate everything you think you know, and force you into new thoughts and experiences that are often incredibly distressing.
